PHOENIX (AZFamily) — No officers are hurt after Phoenix police shot a robbery suspect on Thursday night.

Officers were called to a reported armed robbery attempt at a fast food restaurant near 16th Street and Buckeye Road around 6:45 p.m. It was reported that a suspect possibly armed with a gun was stealing from a woman, police said.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man matching the suspect description and commanded him to get on the ground, Phoenix PD said.

The man initially complied and laid on the ground outside of the restaurant, which was occupied. But as officers continued to give commands, the man abruptly got to his feet near the restaurant’s door, leading to the officer-involved shooting, according to Phoenix Police.
