CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - An Illinois man who lead authorities on a chase that crossed the state line on U.S. 79 from Louisiana into Panola County was given 10 years in prison, Panola County District Attorney Larry W. Fields said.
Fields, in a press release issued Friday, said a jury found Leodis Scott III guilty this week. Scott received the maximum sentence in the case from Judge LeAnn Kay Rafferty.
Scott was arrested in January 2025 . He had been pulled over in a traffic stop in Greenwood, Louisiana for displaying a fictitious license plate. Fields said a Greenwood Police Department officer determined the vehicle Scott was driving was stolen out of Georgia.
Scott drove away from the stop, and Fields said the Greenwood officer pursued him at speeds of up to 130 mph.
