CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is preparing for the Nov. 4 general election by testing its voting equipment.

“We’re ready, we’re testing,” Deputy Director Anthony Kaloger said. “We’re continuing testing throughout this week.”

On Friday, staff scanned test ballots through the machines to ensure accuracy. Kaloger said the goal is to make sure every vote is counted correctly.

“We verify that every candidate or issue oval that is marked will be recorded correctly,” he said.

Officials said scanners and tabulation programs have safeguards against hacking, noting the system is never connected to the internet.
