SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A man has been charged in connection with the Deer Creek Fire, which burned approximately 17,724 acres.
On July 10, 2025, a fire broke out in the Deer Creek Area and quickly spread. By the time it was contained on August 11, 2025, it had burned approximately 17,724 acres and prompted evacuations.
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office says that the fire led to an estimated $24,021,755 in damage.
This week, the San Juan County Sheriff's Office announced that they have identified and charged an individual in connection with the fire. The individual is Scott Crane Carrier, 66, from Salt Lake City.
