HAYWARD — An on-going dispute over his personal hygiene led to a 38-year-old man to shoot both his parents inside the home they shared before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

The 70-year-old father, Robert Baltrip Sr., initially survived the Aug. 10 shooting, but died from his wounds Aug. 26, authorities said.

The 71-year-old mother has since been released from a hospital.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 inside the family’s home in the 26000 block of Gading Road.

Police said in the course of the still on-going investigation, they learned the son, Robert Baltrip Jr., was employed as a security guard, and spent most of his time outside of work at home, often staying alone in his room.
