Students from around the county got a firsthand look into the future during Oakland County Manufacturing Day on Friday.

More than 1,100 students from 20 high schools and the Oakland Schools Technical Center campuses visited 34 advanced manufacturing facilities throughout the county.

“This is really true community in action,” said Oakland ISD Superintendent Ken Gutman. “Showing what is possible when education and business work hand in hand.”

At ABB Robotics in Auburn Hills, 33 students toured the North American headquarters and factory with Christelle Keefer, global segment manager for education.

ABB provides robotics services in a variety of industries such as automotive, electronics, food and beverage, health care and entertainment.
