FENNVILLE, MI -- An individual at Fennville Public Schools has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis.
The district has asked parents and students to monitor for signs of tuberculosis. If symptoms are identified, parents and students should contact their doctor, a press release from FPS said.
“We understand this news may raise concerns, but please know although active TB can be a serious disease, it is a treatable condition,” the release said.
Tuberculosis is a contagious disease that can cause cough, fever, night sweats and weight loss. Not everyone infected with the bacteria causing tuberculosis shows symptoms.
Extended periods of time in enclosed spaces are required for tuberculosis to spread, the release said.
