[WASHINGTON, D.C.] — ICE has revealed that Ian Roberts, the former Des Moines school superintendent who was arrested on September 26, has a significant criminal history.

Roberts was apprehended after evading ICE officers, abandoning his vehicle, and fleeing on foot. In his vehicle, officers discovered a loaded handgun, a hunting knife, and $3,000 in cash. He was subsequently charged on October 2 for being an illegal alien in possession of firearms.

His criminal history includes charges and convictions dating back to 1996, with offenses ranging from possession of narcotics to unauthorized vehicle use and weapon charges. Notably, he was convicted in Pennsylvania in 2022 for unlawful firearm possession.
