GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The U.S. government shutdown impacting services nationwide continues into its third day. Congress members representing Florida from both parties pointed the finger across the aisle in public statements on Friday.

North Central Florida U.S. Rep. Randy Fine was joined by Putnam County Sheriff Gator Deloach at a news conference in Palatka on Friday morning. He criticized Democrats for the shutdown, saying they refuse to agree to a plan because of their stance on illegal immigration.

“The Schumer Shutdown’s having real effects on Floridians, and the effects are only going to get worse, so I’m here to talk about them and let them know that I’ll do everything I can -- and we have-- to get the government open, but it’s time for the Democrats to stop holding us hostage
