NEWBERRY, S.C. —
Samsung's home appliance plant in Newberry celebrated National Manufacturing Day by opening its doors to local students to discuss the importance of manufacturing and its impact on South Carolina.
Students had the opportunity Friday to see firsthand what it takes to build home appliances, including washing machines, on the assembly line at the plant located off Interstate 26.
"It's about just showing students that a career in manufacturing today means working with advanced technologies, solving problems," said Julian Joe, vice president of manufacturing for Samsung Electronics Home Appliances.
As part of National Manufacturing Day, hundreds of factories across the U.S. show off potential careers to students and inspire the next generation of workers.
