The north and southbound lanes of Upper Wentworth Street between Stone Church Road East and Hussar Avenue have reopened on Friday afternoon after closing due to a water main break earlier in the day.

“As of today at 2 p.m., the repairs have been made, the site temporarily restored and all lanes are back open ahead of schedule,” said Shane McCauley, director of water and wastewater operations.

The City of Hamilton announced on social media around 9 a.m. Friday morning that the water main had broken and was the cause for lane closures.

According to McCauley, there has been no known damage to any private property at this time, but properties near the break may have experienced reduced or no water pressure for the duration.
