BISHOPVILLE, S.C. — New details have emerged in the investigation into a Lee County assisted living facility after a 74-year-old resident was struck and killed by two vehicles in September.
The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has released new documents, shedding light on what happened the morning of Leroy Eugene Davis' death.
Davis, a resident of Cottonwood Villas, was struck by a tractor-trailer and another unknown vehicle while walking along Highway 15 in Bishopville on Sept. 23. According to the investigation, Davis left the facility early that morning without staff noticing. When law enforcement arrived at the facility about an hour after the incident, staff members were unaware that Davis was missing.
