Former NFL defensive end Arthur Jones has died at 39.
The “sudden passing” of the New York native and Syracuse University star, who went on to win a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, was confirmed by his alma mater on Friday.
“Arthur Jones was a tremendous player and even better person,” Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack said in a statement. “He was someone that brought joy to everyone he encountered. We were fortunate that Arthur continued to support our football program after his playing career. He impacted many of our student-athletes, always with a smile and uplifting message.”
They offered no other information on his death, but confirmed he died Friday morning .
