COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center will light up Block O on top of its new hospital tower Friday night.

A 30-foot-tall Block O inside the new University Hospital will be lit Scarlet, marking the first major event leading to the hospital's opening next year. The event also includes a drone show before the lighting.

According to a release from Wexner Medical Center , the Block O sign is the highest on campus, sitting 365 feet above ground in the "lantern," a glass cross section of the hospital.

The sign is made by the Columbus Sign Company, weighs nearly three tons and contains about 750 feet of LED lighting. It was transported in 20 sections by elevator and assembled over four weeks, the release says.
