The Yankees will turn to sophomore starter Luis Gil in Saturday’s Game 1 of the best of five ALDS, a clear advantage for the Blue Jays knowing they will have veteran Kevin Gausman on the hill.
Given the fact the Yankees exhausted their three pitchers best by winning the wild card 2-1 against the Boston Red Sox, the choice for Saturday’s starter came down to either Gil or fellow righty Will Warren.
Warren started against the Jays in Toronto back in July when he gave up 10 hits, including two homers, and eight runs, while issuing four walks.
