A 24 year-old man has died two weeks after being hit by a cyclists while walking down Ryan Road in Courtenay.
The collision happened on the evening of Sept. 16, not far from North Island College along a busy stretch of road with a lengthy eight per cent slope in Courtenay.
The victim Max Poley was a student at NIC and had just finished working his shift at the college cafeteria.
“It was closer to 9 p.m. when he was making his way down the hill when a cyclist struck him and he landed pretty hard with primarily just a head injury,” said friend and co-worker Carissa Wilson, executive director of the North Island Student’s Union.
