Political platform BNP says exercise for newly-formed corporations flawed, points out need to have at least 500 wards for effective governance, publish population data

The Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP) has strongly criticised the State Government for the flawed ward delimitation exercise conducted for the newly-formed five Corporations.

The Government had earlier claimed that splitting BBMP into five Corporations would make governance more citizen-centric. However, the number of wards has been fixed at about 368, leaving them still too large to be effectively governed. For a city with nearly 1.5 crore people, BNP has stressed the need for at least 500 wards, with around 30,000 residents and 20,000 voters per ward.
