Helped by three birdies, Trinity ace Veronica Maddux stands four strokes off the lead at the District 3 2A Golf Championship.

Maddux fired an opening round 8-over-par 80 Friday to sit alone in second place behind Schuylkill Valley’s Abby McCaffrey (76).
