CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Carteret County wildlife shelter has had a busy year, and now its latest patient, a bald eagle, is gaining some attention online.
The Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter takes in animals from all over. Their most recent case came from Craven County, where Animal Protective Services found a bald eagle on the side of Highway 70. Officers believe it was clipped by a car.
“So when I walked in, I was like, oh man, yeah, I forgot we were supposed to get one of those,” said Liam Naughten, a tech at the shelter. “And sure enough, it was already there on the table, displayed and everything. It was quite the sight to see.”
Once the eagle arrived, the staff checked it out.
