School districts and local services in Ohio will no longer be able to put certain types of property tax levies on the ballot, starting next year.

School districts are concerned about what this means for the future of funding education, while lawmakers say this allows for more transparent taxes.

The Ohio Senate decided to put a stop to emergency and replacement levies. It's a plan Gov. Mike DeWine previously vetoed, but Senators overrode him this week. Lawmakers said this was an effort to create tax relief for residents.

"I personally believe that the efforts of the General Assembly right now are a bit like taking a sledgehammer to the problem without understanding how to fix the pieces that you break," Perrysburg Schools treasurer Randy Drewyor said.
