A cyclone alert has been issued in Maharashtra between 3rd and 7th October. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that this is the first post-monsoon cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea. Sri Lanka has named it Cyclone Shakti.
The impact of Cyclone Shakti will be felt in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. Winds are expected to blow at 45–55 km per hour. Depending on the cyclone's intensity, wind speed may exceed 65 km per hour. By 5th October, high waves are expected along Maharashtra’s coast.
Meanwhile, a deep depression forming over the Bay of Bengal has caused heavy rains and floods in several districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. In An
