At the halftime of a wild shootout between Eastwood and Eastlake , the assumption was the next team that could get a stop would win the District 1-6A showdown.
As it turns out, Eastwood had a lot more than one stop in them. A Trooper defense that gave up three first-half touchdowns got a fourth-down stop, then back-to-back interceptions in the third quarter as the Troopers pulled away from Eastlake and won 42-28.
That redeemed a great outing from Eastwood quarterback Kingston Jeffries, who threw three touchdown passes to Jordan Nava and finished with four passing and one rushing touchdown. He threw for 281 yards. Matthew Ramirez complimented that with 173 rushing yards.
