EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The 2025-26 Michigan State hockey season got underway on Friday night with MSU welcoming a sold-out crowd to Ron Mason Rink at Munn Ice Arena where the Spartans dispatched Windsor, 4-0, in exhibition action.
“The guys have done a great job at working, and the reality is we’ve practiced quite a bit, and they wanted to get out there hungry to play,” said Michigan State head coach Adam Nightingale. “There’s portions of the game I really liked about our team, and I thought in the second period we got to our game.”
Michigan State took a 1-0 lead just seconds into the contest when freshman Porter Martone collected a pass from senior Daniel Russell in front of the net, scoring his first goal in front of the Munn faithful.
MSU’s advantage quickly increased to 4-0 in
