TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Southern Arizona is getting a chance to see another side of the late Congressman Raúl Grijalva through his drawings and doodles.
200 of his sketches will be on display in “The Drawings & Doodles of ¡Grijalva!” for the rest of the month.
The legendary lawmaker’s widow, Ramona Grijalva, who goes by Mona, walked through the exhibit with 13 News’ Renee Romo exclusively ahead of opening night.
“I think that he’d be tickled that these were in a gallery,” Mona said.
It was her first time seeing many of the drawings since Raúl drew a lot of them while in D.C.
But she said he’s been doodling since he was a child. In fact, they auctioned a few of them off during his time on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board to help them get out of debt.
