Scotland’s rugged coastlines have been named among the best destinations in the UK for autumn foraging
The ranking comes from Simply Sea Views , which rounded up the nation’s top coastal foraging regions. The trend has been gaining traction across the country, with social media tutorials and glossy cookbooks inspiring more people to seek out wild ingredients.
In Scotland, autumn provides a particularly generous harvest, with Argyll , Moray and Fife praised for their rich mix of mushrooms, berries and edible sea plants. The damp and mild conditions create perfect ground for wild mushrooms such as chanterelles, ceps and hedgehog fungi.
These can be fried with butter and garlic, made into hearty soups, or served on toast for a simple seasonal dish
