South Kitsap football coach Sean Banks thought his team played its best game of the season against Curtis for the Wolves' homecoming.

Unfortunately, when it comes to facing off against opponents in the rough-and-tumble Class 4A South Puget Sound League, arguably the top league in the state, the team from Port Orchard almost needs a perfect performance to be within striking distance of a win.

Perfection wasn't attained against Curtis, which handed the Wolves a 41-15 defeat on Friday, Oct. 3. South Kitsap, which opened the season with nonleague wins against Kentridge, Auburn Riverside and Central Kitsap, fell to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in league play. Curtis improved to 4-1, 2-0.
