Disappointing news for Gen Z, who spend a lot of time on Snapchat! The platform will now charge users for storing more than 5GB of content in its Memories feature. Snapchat was launched in 2016, and since then, it has offered storage of photos and videos under Memories for free. The content is originally shared for just 24 hours. However, now users will need to subscribe after their 5GB limit is exhausted to continue accessing their saved content.

“When we first launched Memories, we never expected it to grow to what it has become today,” Snapchat said in a statement. “We want to make sure that our community can continue to store all of their Memories over the long term, so we are introducing new Memories Storage Plans to support Snapchatters with more than 5GB of Memories.”
