There’s a lot of sound at a Blue Jays game. Whether it’s fake organ music imploring the fans to yell “Charge!” or just 10 seconds of blaring pump-up noise to fill the space between pitches, the cacophony around the action is non-stop.
The players largely ignore all that stuff, though some over the years have not only learned the words to “OK, Blue Jays” but also the actions of the seventh-inning stretch routine. The one thing they do pay attention to, for the most part, are the tunes that they themselves have chosen.
The players choose their own walk-up songs. For hitters, it plays as they walk to the plate for an at-bat. For pitchers, it’s for their walk-out to the mound. To some, it’s very meaningful. To others, it’s just a piece of a song that they like.
