TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - Israel's army says it is preparing for the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza and return hostages.

This follows Hamas's acceptance of parts of the deal.

On Saturday, Israel's leaders instructed the army to advance readiness for the plan.

Trump ordered Israel to stop bombing Gaza after Hamas accepted some elements of his proposal. The plan includes Hamas releasing hostages and disarming, while Israel halts its offensive and allows humanitarian aid.

Despite momentum, questions remain about Hamas's willingness to demilitarize. Talks are underway for the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
