Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and its Roswell Park Care Network community practices will no longer be in-network for Independent Health's individual Medicare Advantage plans, beginning Jan. 1.

The health insurer said it has about 50,000 individual Medicare Advantage members, but noted that the change will not apply to the health plan's roughly 15,000 group Medicare members.

The changes come as health insurers across the country tweak their Medicare Advantage offerings that are no longer as profitable due to increased usage by seniors seeking medical care, as well as policy changes in Washington, D.C., that have put financial pressure on reimbursements.
