TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Large sections of the Downtown Tampa Interchange are under construction this weekend, and you'll likely experience more traffic than usual or potentially have to alter your route.
The focus of the construction is the I-274 interchange with I-4, often referred to as "malfunction junction" due to frequent crashes and congestion holding up traffic.
The temporary closure of the interchange began Saturday at 5 a.m. and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6.
As of around 8 a.m. on Saturday, drivers headed west on I-4 were experiencing the most significant delays and gridlock.
Northbound I-275
The northbound lanes between Scott Street and through the I-4 interchange will all be closed until 10 p.m. on Saturday. To continue north through the construction, you'll want t
