The first full moon of 2025, a supermoon, will brighten skies across Pakistan on October 7, according to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).
The phenomenon occurs as the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth, known as perigee, at a distance of about 361,400 kilometres (224,599 miles). At this point, it will appear roughly 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon.
Suparco said this will be the first supermoon in nearly a year, following the last one in November 2024.
The agency added that when the Moon is seen near the horizon, it may appear even larger due to an optical illusion. A long-observed effect among sky-watchers.
Three more supermoons are expected in the current cycle, on November 05 and December 05, 2025, and another in early J
