TROUTMAN—Mooresville put up 28 points in the first quarter and rolled to a 48-10 win over South Iredell on Friday night in the teams’ 6A/7A North Piedmont Conference opener.

Brody Norman threw three touchdown passes and ran for another TD.

All points were scored in the opening half.

Norman connected with Gavin Barber for TD tosses covering 70 and 4 yards. He also hooked up with Chanse Bost for a 40-yard touchdown pass.

Jordan Cleaves’ 90-yard interception return for a TD helped extend the lead to 35-3.

Evan Young and Ja’Darius McCombs rushed for TDs of 5 and 2 yards, respectively.

Giovanny Rendon made a 27-yard field goal for the Vikings, and South Iredell’s Brody Hunt scored on an 80-yard TD pass from Tristan Cowan.

Mooresville (4-2, 1-0) hosts North Iredell (1-5, 0-1) on Oct. 10.
