LONDON — The Browns appear to be guarding against being short-handed in the defensive backfield against the Minnesota Vikings in London.
A day before the game, they announced they elevated cornerbacks Tre Avery and Dom Jones from the practice squad. It’s the same two they elevated a week ago for the loss at the Detroit Lions .
The Browns need the support with cornerback Greg Newsome II questionable to play due to a hamstring injury. Coach Kevin Stefanski said the injury became noticeable Wednesday, but may have originated in the Lions game.
Avery (5-11, 185) is in his fourth NFL season out of Rutgers. Originally signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2022, Avery has appeared in 39 career games with Tennessee (2022-24) and Cleveland (2025).
Jones (6-2, 192) is a rook
