Bhopal, October 4, 2025 – Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have banned the sale and distribution of Coldrif Syrup after laboratory tests revealed it contained a highly toxic chemical linked to the deaths of children in Chhindwara district.

The Office of the Controller, Food and Drugs Administration, issued an urgent directive on Friday to all drug inspectors across the state against the product, which is manufactured by Sresan Pharmaceutical. The ban comes after a test report from the Drug Testing Laboratory in Chennai declared the syrup Not of Standard Quality , finding 48.6 percent by volume of Diethylene Glycol — a poisonous industrial chemical harmful to human health.
