Uttar Pradesh authorities on Saturday (October 4) demolished a banquet hall belonging to one of those arrested in connection with the recent clashes linked to the “I love Muhammad” campaign in Bareilly.

The Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) carried out the demolition with tight security and said the hall was constructed in violation of norms.

Three-hour operation

As per a PTI report citing sources, the 'Raza Palace' banquet hall is owned by a person identified as Dr. Nafees, considered to be a close aide of arrested cleric Tauzeer Raza Khan, who is accused of inciting the September 26 violence. Nafees was also arrested and sent to jail in connection with the clashes.
