SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A new festival will celebrate the unique, rich cultural heritage of the region through live music and culinary arts.

On Oct. 4, the Chicken & Blues Festival is kicking off at the Louisiana State University Shreveport campus from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The festival will showcase an American Idol winner alongside regional blues artists to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and community of the region.

Along with live performances, culinary diversity will be celebrated as well with creative area chefs with a focus on chicken dishes.
