WASHINGTON —

Hamas has accepted some elements of the Trump administration's plan to end the war with Israel, but the militant group says further discussions are needed on other issues.

It remains to be seen if those gaps can be bridged, but Israel's army says it is advancing preparations for the first phase of President Trump's plan in the meantime.

On social media Friday, Trump said he believes Hamas is "ready for a lasting PEACE."

"Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that. We are already in discussions on details to be worked out," Trump added .
