The Danville School Board on Thursday evening signed off on a framework surrounding a still-developing strategic plan, a document designed to carry the school system through 2031.

The unanimous approval came after a presentation by Danville Public Schools Superintendent Angela Hairston and Rodney Jordan, a consultant in the process, who joined the meeting virtually.

The process started in February with a session by the school board. That was followed by a community breakfast at George Washington High School.

Last month, a day-long gathering of dozens of people — including students — sorted through major points of the plan, including the vision, mission and belief statements.

”It really was a great cross-section of your community, your staff,” Jordan explained.
