WEXFORD COUNTY, MI – A Cadillac man faces arson and domestic violence charges after allegedly setting fire to a Cedar Creek Township home last month.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post responded to the house fire at approximately 10 p.m. on Sept. 3, according to MSP.

A man was still inside the home when troopers initially responded to the scene, but firefighters from the Cedar Creek Township Fire Department managed to rescue him from the fire, police said.

Scott Hermanson, 46, allegedly used an accelerant to start the fire following a domestic assault incident with a woman, police said.

Hermanson suffered serious injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital, and the woman was brought to an area hospital to undergo a medical evaluation.
