LAGRANGE, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A former LaGrange church elder has been arrested for allegedly embezzling over $200,000 from the church, according to police reports.

LaGrange police said Howard Lester, a former elder of Broad Street Church of Christ, is accused of taking the money from the church’s business account.

DUI-accused bus driver had 17 bottles of drugs with her, cops say

A newly released report is shedding light on the arrest of an Edgefield County bus driver suspected of driving under the influence.

Lester is also accused of “depriving a customer of over $6,000″ while he was employed at the Floors on Commerce store in LaGrange.

Police reported that Lester is facing felony theft charges for the incidents.
