Islam Makhachev has moved up to welterweight, chasing his second divisional belt at UFC 322, and his coach, Javier Mendez, recently said he’s walking around at 190 pounds now. With that kind of size, people are naturally wondering how he’d do against even bigger guys. Arman Tsarukyan weighed in on this and thinks Makhachev would have real problems against someone like Khamzat Chimaev.

Talking to Aslanbek Badaev, he points out that their physical differences are significant. Wrestling the middleweight champ is completely different from facing welterweight opponents. Makhachev is naturally a lightweight in terms of build and weight, and any attempt to gain more could work against him. As per Tsarukyan, these differences give Chimaev a clear advantage, making it very difficult for Makhachev.
