There’s been lots of debate, pro and con, about passage of Proposition 50, which calls for redistricting of Congressional Districts in California, on a temporary basis to counter what Texas is doing.

Donald Trump has urged Texas to change their congressional districts to create more Republican seats in the U.S. Congress. Gov. Newsom, here in California, has proposed that we change our excellent districting plan to balance what Texas is doing.

It is unfortunate that we have to change a fair districting system here in California to have fair representation on a national level. Why is this needed? The answer is one that I would give my own children if they were planning on a basketball team. If the opposing team told you they were going to add five new players to their team, but
