A man was struck and killed by a Los Angeles-bound Metrolink train at the downtown Burbank station, authorities said Saturday.
The crash occurred at about 10 p.m. Friday on the tracks west of the pedestrian crossing at the downtown Burbank Metrolink Station, 201 N. Front St., between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue, Metrolink spokeswoman Laurene Lopez told City News Service.
“After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, it was determined that the decedent intentionally positioned himself on the train tracks as the train was approaching,” according to a police statement. “The train, which was travelling northbound, was unable to stop and struck the decedent.”
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said.
