(First InMaricopa) A deadly two-vehicle crash early this morning shut down State Route 238 west of Maricopa, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS said troopers responded about 5:25 a.m. to the collision at milepost 33, near Rio Bravo Road and 83rd Avenue. The agency confirmed to InMaricopa that one person was killed and that the highway was shut down during the investigation.

At 9 a.m., DPS reopened the roadway in both directions after crews cleared the scene.

At the site, the front end of a silver Audi SUV was destroyed. The vehicle was towed away minutes before 9 a.m. as investigators wrapped up their work.

DPS has not released the victim’s identity or details about what caused the crash.
