MARLBORO, N.Y. — Marlboro High’s football team is still looking for some consistency following Friday’s 27-7 Section 9 Class B victory over Red Hook.

The Dukes (1-1 Class B, 3-1 overall) made things a little more difficult than necessary for coach Ryan Brooks’ taste by allowing a kickoff return for a touchdown and committing too many penalties.

Marlboro dominated the first half statistically by outgaining the visiting Raiders 183-13 in yards from scrimmage. But the Dukes allowed Oji Brantley to return a kickoff 70 yards with 1:33 remaining in the half to pull the Raiders (1-2, 3-2) within 13-7 at the intermission.

The Dukes hurt themselves with six penalties in the first half, including three holding calls.
