CHICAGO — Federal authorities opened fire on a woman on the city's Southwest Side on Saturday afternoon after she allegedly attempted to strike them with a car, according to a source.

A source confirmed to WGN-TV on Saturday afternoon that ICE agents shot and injured a woman as she allegedly attempted to run over an unknown number of agents in an area near West 40th Street and South Kedzie Avenue in Brighton Park, at around 10:45 a.m.

A source told WGN-TV that the woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition, though it is unclear if any agents were injured.

The incident comes after weeks of clashes between protesters and federal authorities as they conduct an immigration enforcement operation dubbed "Operation Midway Blitz," which focuses on Chicago
