WACO, Texas — Kansas State football blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, failing to hold on to what would have been a major Big 12 win on the road.
The Wildcats lost 35-34 to Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 4, at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas.
K-State (2-4, 1-2 Big 12) scored 21 unanswered points between the second and third quarters, but Baylor (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) made the winning plays down the stretch.
Quarterback Avery Johnson threw a pick-six late in the fourth quarter when driving in Bears territory. The interception return gave Baylor a 32-31 lead with 4:28 left. After retaking the lead with a field goal with 1:48 left, Baylor marched down for the game-winning score off a 54-yard field goal.
Wildcats kicker Luis Rodriguez's 56-yard field goal attempt was blocked at the buzzer.
