The Karnataka State Film Awards 2021 were announced on Friday evening, celebrating excellence across Kannada cinema. Doddahatti Boregowda, a gritty tale on rural distress and corruption, was declared Best Film, while 777 Charlie bagged the second Best Film along with Best Actor for Rakshit Shetty and Best Editing. Archana Jois won Best Actress for her performance in Mute, a movie on a divorced woman’s hunt to find a man who shattered her life. Rohit Padaki’s Ratnan Prapancha shone in the supporting categories with both Pramod and Umashree winning acting honours, and Mohan Kere and Ganesh awarded for art direction and makeup. Yuvarathnaa was named Best Popular Entertaining Film, rounding off a diverse winners’ list.
