As President Trump tethers the U.S. to the 20th century, President Xi’s China has embraced the 21st Century. China has surpassed the U.S. in shipbuilding, the automobile industry, and railroads. China now has its sights on aviation and the race back to the moon. The U.S. dominated all these areas in the 20th century.
Half a century ago, China’s shipbuilding industry was nonexistent. Today, China is the world's largest shipbuilder and continues to expand its operations. China is a significantly larger shipbuilding nation than the United States, over 200 times larger. China’s increased capacity allows it to produce a large number of ships, including both commercial and naval vessels. It currently has the largest military fleet in the world and is a growing concern for the U.S. Navy.
